Hello! As of July 1st 2010 I am the new Pastor and Director of Campus Ministry at the Agape House, and I am very excited for the spirit-filled worship and fulfilling activities we will do here! I am also quite pleased by my initial impression of the Agape House: this is a place not only for great music and worship and food, but also, it is a relaxing place for study, contemplation, spiritual exploration and fulfillment. Most importantly, the Agape House is open to everyone searching for a way to live out their faith.
 
I graduated with my Master of Divinity from the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colorado this past June, and I am the Associate Minister at Brookings First United Methodist Church, but the bulk of my mission is to the students at SDSU as Campus Minister. I will be keeping regular weekly hours at the Agape House, but also look for me on campus . . . I will most likely be found close to the Dairy Bar where they serve great ice cream!

Jacob Laird - Co-Chair

 

Hey friends, this is your Co-Chair Jacob Laird, thanks for stopping by my page. If you know me, I’m crazy about helping others grow in their faith and helping to spread God’s word. If you don’t know me then you should get involved in our growing ministry and meet great lifetime friends along the way. There is no greater feeling than when you are surrounded by fellow believers who not only want to grow in their own faith but want to help you grow in your faith as well.
 
A little about me, I grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota where I lived all my life before coming to the great SDSU campus. I’m currently in my senior year working towards my BS in Electrical Engineering Technology. I became involved with the United Faith Campus Ministry at the start of my freshman year here. It has been one awesome experience. It is a great ministry to get involved in because we are a growing ministry, so the possibilities are endless. Come check us out and I guarantee you won’t regret it.
 
My Job as Co-Chair is simple, to serve my fellow classmates. I was elected by the students of our ministry to serve as a leader for anything that comes up. As Co-Chair I’m responsible for planning, organizing, and performing all of our events and activities throughout the school year and during the summer. I’m also in charge of our student bank account. So I keep track of, and manage all our ministries funds. Along with this, I collaborate with the other Coordinators of the ministry, as well as the Campus Committee. This job is too much for one person to handle, so between me and my fellow Co-Chair we divide and conquer. This makes it easier for us to give you an even better experience with our ministry. I recommend checking out the other leadership team members’ pages as well.
 

If you’re looking for a new home away from home for your college experience, this ministry is perfect for you. I have made tons of new friends who all share the same passion for their faith as I do. The United Faith Campus Ministry is a great place to get involved with the best people you will ever meet in college. I would love to meet you and chat. Lacy Clements - Co-Chair

 Hey there! Thanks for stopping by to check out my page! I am Lacy Clements and a senior here at SDSU. I also encourage you to check out the pages of the other members of our leadership team. We are a strong group and hope to see more faces join our ministry! One of the things I love the most is seeing other people fall in love with Christ and find their place here at the Agape House. 

 I have been attending the Agape House for two years now. My first year of college was spent at Black Hills State University. There was no campus ministry to be found there. A couple bible study groups but nothing like the Agape House. From my first visit, I felt welcomed and a part of the ministry. After deciding to transfer to SDSU, and before I had taken a single class here, I was invited to join the leadership team. I was placed as the Communication Coordinator and served there for my first year and a half here. Now that I’m Co-Chair, I plan to take what I have learned and help this ministry grow even more! My job is to work with my Co-Chair in: leading meetings, helping organize and run events, keeping the communication line open for coordinators and any other students, stay in contact with our Campus Director, and even maintaining a link to our local church, Brookings First United Methodist Church.

When people ask where I’m from, I try to keep the answer simple with, “My mom lives in Sturgis and my dad lives in Tilford (a kind of suburb of Piedmont).” The extended version is that I was born in Ansbach, Germany and then moved back to the states. I’ve lived in Oklahoma, Colorado, and a few different towns in South Dakota, all West River. The longest place I’ve lived is in the house my dad still owns in Tilford. I love the Hills and miss them. I also miss the weather over there, but Brookings is growing on me a little. I live off campus but enjoy meeting people on campus to chat or have a cup of coffee, or both!

Hi! My name is Erica Houska and I'm the communication coordinator here at the Agape House. I'm also a sophomore this year at SDSU in the Pre-Vet program with a major in animal science and an equine minor, since I hope to have a specialty in equine medicine once I'm actually a vet!

To let you know a little more about me, I'm from Sioux Falls, SD. Here at campus, I'm involved with the Agape House, which I absolutely love. I'm also involved with the pre-vet club, intramural sports (especially soccer), and hanging out with friends. Off campus, I work at the Brookings Regional Humane Society a couple days of the week and I observe surgeries there, since I'm a pre-vet kid!! 

I was first introduced to this ministry when I was still a senior in high school. I came up to Brookings to check out the school and hang out with friends who were involved with the ministry. When I went to the Agape House, I felt extremely welcome almost right away! It felt like something I really wanted to be a part of when I was a student at SDSU, and now I am! The worship on Wednesday nights felt like a perfect fit for my personality and I feel like the Agape has really helped me grow in my faith, among many other things!  It gives me a sense of motivation, relaxation, and energy to get through the rest of the week. I also enjoy hanging out with all of the people who come! I couldn't imagine going throughout college without the support of God and my Agape family. :)

My name is Megan and I am currently a junior at SDSU. I am from Rapid City, SD and love to be outdoors and play music. I am a co-worship coordinator at the Agape House. This is my first semester of trying it out, and I am already loving it. One of my favorite things about a worship service is the music! I play the piano in the worship band on Wednesday nights. It's when I feel closest to God.

 

 

 

  

 

Hi! I'm Jared Ribstein and I'm the second half of the Worship Coordinator team here at United Faith Campus Ministry. I am a sophomore at SDSU. I am majoring in Sociology with a Human Services specialization. I'm from a little town called Harrisburg, just south of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I love playing and listening to music, it's a huge part of my life. I play guitar in the worship band but also enjoy playing the mandolin. Playing for the praise of God is a huge part of my own personal worship. I love to use my gifts for the God that gave them to me.

Brandon Dunham - Fundrasing Coordinator
 
Hi, my name is Brandon Dunham and I am a sophomore here at South Dakota State University. I am from the complete opposite side of the state in Rapid City and have really enjoyed being involved with as many campus ministry activities as possible. I am a transfer student from USD where I was a worship coordinator with their campus ministry. I am majoring in music with a minor in religion with the intent to eventually go into seminary. I was recently appointed as fundraising coordinator here at state and I am very excited about taking on the responsibility.
 
I play guitar and sing in the praise band and for me that is when I feel like I really and truly connect with God. My music has been a way for me to express myself and comfort me when I am weak. To close my eyes and think that I am singing and playing and showing off my gifts that God gave me to him every time I pick up my guitar....gives me chills.
 
College is an interesting time in our lives. We no longer have our parents hassling us to do our homework or teachers spoon feeding us answers to questions. The opportunity to get out on our own and become a grown-up seems so amazing but when it finally comes along it can really take you off guard and knock you down. Campus Ministry has been the place I go to escape from the hard times the world has thrown at me. I can leave all my problems at the door and sit and talk to the one who loves me unconditionally. The one who will always be there for me, my lord and savior Jesus Christ.

Cassie Moderegger - Outreach Coordinator

 

Hello all :)

My name is Cassie Moderegger and I am the outreach 
coordinator here at the Agape house. Currently I am a sophomore at SDSU.My hopes for my future are to teach(1st or 2nd grade) and to also a pursue a career as a writer, because writing about the world I see and helping young kids learn are two things I am very passionate about. Some other fun facts are that I really enjoy being outside(my favorite season is autumn!),I am a complete book worm, and I constantly have a cup of coffee in my hand. I have been performing since I was a little kid so music, singing, acting, and dancing are also activities I truly love. I sing in the praise team at the Agape house and I love it! Worshiping God through song is the best way I know how and it never fails to move me. 
I am so excited to be back at SDSU!This year at the Agape is going to be fantastic!!  I have a handful of new ideas for this year and would LOVE if people would call me (6056608045) or stop by my room(in Young Hall) to discuss their ideas as well. If ANYONE is interested in attending the Agape or has questions about what we do please, please contact me! We ADORE having new people around and the Agape house is a great place to meet new people and to grow. My favorite Bible verse (symbolically tattooed on me I love it so much!) is Ephesians 3:16-19: "I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." My aim for this year is that the Agape and all it's members be rooted and grounded and love, and that by simply being there one feels Christ's love.

Chris Ragels and Adam Juba - Wellness Coordinators

I'm Chris Ragels and I am a senior this year at SDSU. I am a double major in both Nursing and Dietetics. I absolutly love my majors and classes and know I will never be disappointed in the choice I made. I have been going to the Agape house for about 3 years now on and off and am officially going on a regular basis. It is just an amazing place to go for both a friend filled place as well as an amazing place to reconnect with my spiritual life. It took a long time but I feel complete every week after worship to get that nice little boost of spiritual healing and to fill my faith back to normal after a busy week of school and work. I am a huge fan of jazz and big band music as well as living my life according the PJ creed of the Air Force. I am a very open and outgoing person and if there is ever a question you have just ask. 
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hey!  I am Adam Juba and I am the Co-Wellness Coordinator here at the AGAPE.  I am a Sophomore and am Majoring in Mathematics with a Teaching Specialization.  I LOVE to help people with anything and everything, which is why I have a job at the Native American Cultural Center as a Math tutor :)  My favorite sport to play is soccer, but I will do pretty much anything athletic.  When it's nice out we always have a little basketball game going at the house, so come on over and join!  I also love to drink coffee and solve math problems ;) The AGAPE gives me a nice atmosphere as a place to worship and even to just hang out with friends.  If you would like any help with Math or you have any ideas or you just want to talk, please feel free to contact me with my jacks e-mail!   adam.juba@jacks.sdstate.edu
